The purpose of this project is to explore the effectiveness of various techniques for data entry for mobile devices. This includes an exploration of the tasks users typically perform with these devices, the effectiveness of current techniques, and developing and evaluating new techniques. This research is being funded by both Motorola and Aether Systems. We are investigating the efficacy of existing data entry techniques as well as new alternatives including speech recognition.
