Revisiting the relationship between SRT and productivity

System response time studies are numerous, but most are dated. Much of the research was done prior to the mid-1980's, involved time-sharing systems, or explored the issues in a controlled laboratory environment. We are exploring this well-studied topic, but in the context of current computer systems, work environments, and tasks. There are numerous other differences so let us know if you would like to discuss some details.

We have completed data collection and our initial data analysis. Many interesting patterns have emerged that indicate that system performance, cognitive demands, and application design can all affect productivity. If you would like to learn more about this project, please let us know.

This work has been funded by Intel Corporation and Platinum Technology. DeskWatch, a product of Platinum Technology, was used to collect the raw data which we are now analyzing.
