User Interfaces for International Audiences
Faculty Mentor:
Dr. Anita Komlodi
Overview:
During the summer, an experiment will be developed to investigate various aspects of user interface design for cross-cultural usage.
Project Details:
End users from different national cultures interact with and interpret user interfaces in different ways. Cultural background, including language, writing direction, cultural representations (colors, images, physical objects) values and belief systems, time concept, problem-solving style all influence how end users interact with user interfaces. In this study we will look at the impact of cultural background on human-computer interaction in various contexts. Students involved in this project will participate in the full research cycle: review related literature, design study methodology, collect and analyze data, and prepare the findings for publication.
