User Interfaces for Mobile Data Entry

Faculty Mentor:

Dr. Andrew Sears

Overview:

This project will build on several years of research that focuses on developing more robust and effective solutions for data entry on mobile devices.

Project Details:

TThis research focuses on the increasingly important area of data entry for mobile devices. Solutions being explored include speech recognition and stylus-based solutions (e.g., Jot and Graffiti). We are particularly interested in the challenges individuals experience completing these tasks under realistic conditions (e.g., while walking). Research this summer will focus on evaluating the efficacy of interaction solutions under varying conditions. Undergraduate researchers will be actively involved in all aspects of this project including experimental design, conducting experiments, analyzing results, and writing reports.

Special Undergraduate Researcher Skills for this Project:

Some programming experience is useful, but is not required.
